ABSTRACT
The ultrasonographic findings of various gastro-intestinal diseases in total 62 patients were analysed. The results were as follows: 1. The most frequent and important ultrasonographic findings were the pathologi "Target" sign which is formed by central bowel wall with inflammatory thickening and tumor infiltration. Among total 62 patients, the pathologi "Target" sign was demonstrated in 39 patients(62.9%), the only mass in 11 patients(17.7%) and mass with surrounding echo-free fluid or fluid with the echogenic bands in 12 patients(19.4%). 2. Among 18 patients of stomach cancer, the pathologic "Target" sign were domonstrated in 14 patients and all 3 patients of benign gastric disease showed the only "Target" sign. 3. In all of the malignant and inflammatory disease of large bowel, the pathologic "Target" sign was the sole diagnostic criteria. 4. In 7 patients of tuberculosis peritonitis, mass like shadow with linear and mixed echo-pattern were seen in 2 patients and echo-free fluid shadow with multiple echogenic bands in 5 patients, which seem to be characteristics.
