C.M. Park
Department of Radiology, Kyung Hee University Hospital, Seoul, Korea
The authors evaluated six cases of surgically proven choledochal cysts diagnosed by real time ultrasonography. The results were as follows: 1. The male to female ratio was 1:5, and the age distribution was 5 cases in adultand one in 5 year old girl. 2. The most frequent symptom was abdominal pain, which was followed by palpable massand thn jaundice in frequency order. 3. All of them were type A'of Kimura classification, morphologically. 4. Of 5cases, 2 cases showed markedly distended gallbladder. Remaining one case was received cholecystectomy 15 yearsbefore this study. 5. Associated choledocholithiasis was reported to be rare, but we found 2 cases of multiplestones and 2 cases of single stone. 6. Combined other lesions were found in 3 cases - - chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, and ascites by bile leakage. 7. Ultrasonography can easily evaluate intrahepatic bile duct aswell as extrahepatic bile duct, so the authors correctly diagnosed choledochal cyst type A' of Kimuraclassification by ultrasonography alone in 3 cases among 6.
