ABSTRACT
The ultrasonographic features of stomach cancer were studied in 43 patients who were diagnosed by doublecontrast UGI study and endoscopy. Ultrasonographic study was performed immediately after UGI study and thefindings were correlated with USI study. The authors observed infiltrative lesions causing thickening of gastricwall, which can be localized (16 of 31) or diffuse(15 of 31). 9 cases were exogastric masses, sonographic findingswere not found in the lesions occupying the cardia (3 of 5) Ultrasonography is useful in demonstrating the extentof the tumor and the presence of metastasis elsewhere in the abdomen, facilitating tumor staging and evaluation ofthe response to therapy.
