Sonographic findings of 29 proven renal tuberculosis were analysed. The sonographic findings were multifocal minor calyectasis without dilatation of major calyx or pelvis(n=12), diffuse hydronephrosis(n=8), autonephrectomy(n=5), parenchymal destruction(n=4), focal calyectasis(n=2), papillary necrosis(n=1), and normal(n=3).Ancilliary findings were ureteral wall thickening(n=7), and thickening of the wall of the urinary bladder(n=3).Sonography is a useful technique for the diagnosis of renal tuberculosis and follow-up concerning hydronephrosis and parenchymal destruction.
