ABSTRACT
An abscess formation at the falciform ligament and ligamentum teres (round ligament) is rare. In adult, several cases of the inflammatory hepatobiliary diseases spreading along the perihepatic ligament and involving the falciform ligament and ligamentum teres have been described. An abscess involving the falciform ligament and ligamentum teres in infancy has been reported due to an umbilical infection after umbilical vein catheterization. We present a case of an abscess involving the falciform ligament and ligamentum teres in a 57-year-old man. Ultrasonography and CT showed air bubbles and fluid collection in the falciform ligament and ligamentum teres. A fibrotic abscess involving the falciform ligament and ligamentum teres and attaching to the great omentum was confirmed by surgery.
