ABSTRACT
PURPPOSE: To evaluate the usefulness of high frequency ultrasonography in the diagnosis and postreduction evaluation of nasal fracture. MATERIALS AND METHODS: High frequency ultrasonoqraphy examination was performed with 10MHz linear scanner in 18 patients with nasal injury (mean age : 24 years). Sonographic findings are compared with radiographic findings and CT findings. RESULTS: In 14 patients, high frequency ultrasonography revealed the nature and location of the fracture clearly. High frequency ultrasonography can also provide detailed information about the postreduction condition of the opposed bone fragments. In 14 patients, CT scan and ultrasound were consecutive performed, and the results were the same as site and shape of fractures. CONCLUSION: High frequency ultrasonography is a useful method in detection of nasal fracture and postreduction evaluation .
